If you’re going to buy a new phone, don’t just go for the latest and greatest. Check out our list of the best Android phones to find something that will treat you right without breaking the bank. We update this list periodically as new devices launch and older ones fade away, so be sure to keep up if you’re looking for a new phone.
1. Samsung Galaxy S8
This is Samsung’s best Android phone yet. The new Infinity Display stretches across the entire front of the device, with minimized bezels that offer an impressive 83 percent screen-to-body ratio. There are no hardware buttons on the face of the device, so it feels like you’re just holding a big glass sheet. A curved back and rounded metal frame make this feel like a $1,000+ device should feel. That price can’t be justified for some people, but if you’ve got the cash to spend and want one of the best phones out there right now then look no further than the Galaxy S8.
2. Sony Xperia XZ Premium
Sony Xperia XZ Premium is one of the best android phones. The front of the device is home to a 5.5-inch LCD display (2,160 x 3,840), with Sony’s Triluminos tech offering rich colors and deep blacks. A fingerprint scanner sits on the side of the device while the back houses two 12-megapixel cameras for capturing that perfect shot. Waterproofing has been added too so you can take pictures underwater without fear (or dropping it).
3. Samsung Galaxy S7 edge
Galaxy S7 edge phone looks nearly identical to last year’s offering and is also one of the android phones, with a curved back and front that offers minimal bezels for an 83 percent screen-to-body ratio. It’s not quite as refined as the Galaxy S8, but it packs similar internals including 4GB of RAM, waterproofing and a microSD slot. Like all Samsung phones, it runs on Android 7 Nougat out of the box and has access to all of Google’s apps and services.
4. Xiaomi Mi Mix
Xiaomi unveiled its stunning concept phone featuring an insane screen-to-body ratio. That 6.4-inch display stretches all the way to the bottom — just like Essential’s PH-1 — and we’re still not sure how Xiaomi managed it. The ceramic back is eye-catching but slippery, and you won’t find a headphone jack if you’re buying in the U.S., so be sure to grab a pair of Bluetooth headphones.
5. ASUS ZenFone 3 Zoom
The ZenFone 3 Zoom looks great and offers up some serious value for money when compared with other devices on this list. It’s got a 2,600mAh battery that supports fast charging, making it perfect for long days away from your charger — or even longer ones depending on your usage. The back of the device is textured glass that feels nice in your hand, while the front of the phone offers up a 5.5-inch Full HD display with an impressive 401 pixels per inch. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 625 also appears inside this device, giving you plenty of power for less money than many other flagship devices on this list.
6. LG G6
LG G6 packs plenty of upgrades beneath its metal exterior. Its bezels have been slimmed down significantly thanks to a new 18:9 aspect ratio screen that measures 5.7 inches, which puts it right up there with Samsung’s Galaxy S8. The G6 also has a dual 13-megapixel camera on the back of the device, making it perfect for taking photos in dim light or at night. It’s powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 821 processor, 4GB of RAM and comes with either 32GB or 64GB of storage. LG promises around 30 hours of use from its 3,300mAh battery too, which is impressive given that screen size. As usual, you’ll find Android 7 Nougat on board along with plenty of software tweaks from LG.
